Little Brown Mushroom update
Just a brief update on some changes at Little Brown Mushroom. In recent weeks, I’ve shifted my energy from newsletters to YouTube videos. Today I posted the third in a series of videos about the relationship between text and image in photobooks:
These videos are linked to my lecture practice. My goal is to make my artist lectures as creative as anything else I do. Instead of repeating the same Powerpoint over and over, I’ve developed a series of mini-talks that I can choose randomly while on stage:
I also developed a way to show physical books and photos live in front of an audience. This is from a lecture I gave at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts before the pandemic:
I’ve had great success incorporating these techniques in recent online lectures in Tokyo and Texas. We are all drowning in Zoom and Powerpoint. My goal is to make presentations that have physicality and serendipity. If your school or conference is interested, please email my studio manager, Ethan Jones: ethan(at)alecsoth(dot)com.
Y’rs,
Alec
ps. Today I learned the word Tsundoku
